THE TRUST GAP
Most travel sites make every destination sound perfect. They repeat the same attractions, avoid uncomfortable tradeoffs, and rarely tell you who an experience is—and isn’t—right for.
Adventure Community exists to give you the context behind the recommendation, so you can make better decisions before spending your time and money.
WHY TRUST US
These are the standards behind everything we publish, plan, and host.
Our guidance comes from 13 years of planning, leading, and learning from trips—not rewriting what is already ranking on Google.
If a famous sight is overrated, a hotel isn’t worth the price, or a season will disappoint you, we say so.
We make recommendations around the traveler and the experience—not around what earns the highest commission or the easiest click.
We seek out local partners, cultural nuance, and the everyday details that separate a meaningful trip from surface-level tourism.
More than 1,000 repeat travelers have helped shape what we know about pacing, planning, group dynamics, and what actually works.
We don’t just tell you where to go. We explain who it’s right for, the tradeoffs, and how to decide whether it belongs in your trip.
OUR EDITORIAL STANDARD
Before something earns a place in an Adventure Community guide, itinerary, or conversation, it passes through four questions.
"Would we confidently recommend this to someone we care about?"
THAT IS THE FINAL TEST
COMMUNITY PROOF
TRANSPARENCY
Some recommendations may include partnerships or affiliate relationships. When they do, we disclose them clearly. A commercial relationship does not buy a positive opinion.
Share specific reasoning, disclose meaningful relationships, and tell you when something is not a good fit.
Call everything perfect, hide the downside, or recommend something simply because it pays.
PROFESSIONAL CREDIBILITY
Adventure Community’s private travel-planning services are supported through Stacey’s affiliation with Santa Barbara Travel Bureau, a Virtuoso member agency—providing access to trusted global partners and additional client benefits where available.
Stacey Pokluda spent 13 years building Adventure People, leading group experiences, helping travelers navigate unfamiliar destinations, and learning what separates a good-looking itinerary from a genuinely good trip.
Adventure Community turns those lessons into honest guidance more people can use—without making the brand dependent on a single personality.
QUESTIONS
Adventure Community is a travel media brand, community, and travel-services company. We clearly distinguish editorial guidance from paid services and commercial relationships.
Our recommendations are based on traveler fit and firsthand expertise—not on who pays the highest commission. When a partnership or commission is involved, we disclose it clearly.
Our recommendations come from three clearly defined sources: firsthand experience, meaning we’ve personally visited, stayed, eaten, traveled, or explored it ourselves; trusted local expertise, meaning the guidance comes from vetted local guides, partners, residents, or destination experts with direct knowledge; and verified research, meaning we’ve cross-checked current information using reputable sources such as tourism boards, government agencies, transportation providers, and established travel organizations. We’re transparent about the difference because trust starts with being clear about how we know what we know.
We work hard to keep our travel information current, but we also know destinations change quickly. Before publishing or updating a recommendation, we check the latest available information from trusted local contacts, official sources, transportation providers, tourism organizations, and other reputable references when needed. We also revisit older content regularly and update it when conditions, pricing, access, regulations, or traveler experiences change, so you’re not planning a trip based on advice that was accurate five years ago.
